As a global entrepreneur, women’s rights activist and philanthropist, Abeer is shattering gender stereotypes and showing young women around the world that they too can be the change they want to see in the world. Through her work, Abeer collaborates with some of the world’s most talented innovators to help drive global solutions to pressing worldwide challenges.
In her role as CEO of Otaiba Investments, Abeer has helped shape partnerships and growth platforms spanning a range of luxury and lifestyle brands, real estate development groups, technology platforms and more. Her work with Ultimate Motors, Lamborghini, Ferretti Group, Arte di Mare, Monaco Marina Management, CairoHouse and more has attracted millions of US dollars in investment.
Abeer currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for Alpha Technology Group, a new venture developing AI and large language models (LLMs) strategies to empower enterprises with scalable long-term growth solutions. In this role, she helps structure partnerships and long-term growth strategies across multiple verticals. Abeer also serves on the Board of Directors of Takalam, an AI-powered mental health platform operating across the MENA region. She also lends her leadership to international development projects, serving as a Steering Committee Member for Ras Al Hekma Development, leading its Livability strategy.
Abeer’s entrepreneurial spirit has also led to her create other personal business ventures — her fashion line SemSem being her most prominent. Strongly influenced by her Middle Eastern heritage, the SemSem clothing line is entirely handmade and dedicated to female empowerment and development. Integrating her fashion work and women’s rights advocacy, SemSem partners with a different nonprofit organization every season to improve the welfare of disadvantaged women and children all over the world. Forbes has recognized the brand among the region’s Fashion Innovators.
Abeer’s philanthropic work is anchored by a deep commitment to pediatric healthcare. As co-chair of the Children’s National Hospital Ball in 2014, she helped raise more than $10.9 million for the nonprofit fundraiser. Abeer and her husband later received the Joseph E. Robert, Jr. Prize in Philanthropy for their work.
Abeer contributes to cultural diplomacy across Washington, D.C., with commitments to the Kennedy Center, the Washington Ballet, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Abeer is fluent in Arabic, French and English. She holds a BS in civil engineering and an MS in structural analysis. She is in the process of completing executive programs at Harvard Business School.
